Day 9: Sun 17 June 2012 Lanark to Ardlui or Inveraran
Today is approx 88 miles. A looping complicated route around the south and west of Glasgow to cross the Clyde via the Erskine Bridge. Then a lovely run up alongside Loch La-mond. A72 west out of Lanark. Left on B7086 and on under M74, to Strathaven center. A726 through Chapeton 1+ k then Left on minor road to Millwell and around southwest of East Kilbride to B764. R on B764 then Left at 2nd roundabout to Bogton, Waterfoot bridge and B767. Right and quick Left towards Whitecraigs and A77. Right and the Left just after railway bridge to A727. Left on A727 then Right at next roundabout on B769 to Thornliebank. Left at Thornliebank station to B762. Left on B762 over M77 and 2nd exit at roundabout and follow to A736. Left on A736 and across A761. Left at 2nd roundabout. Quick left/Right and towards Gallowhill (keep railway on left). Right and under M8 Left through estate(Victory Gardens) to B791 and follow to A8. Left on A8 and around airport (north east side). Right fork to Freeland and follow around to A726 and on to Erskine Bridge. Right off bridge and follow A82/old A82 in to Dumbarton. A812 north under A82 to B857 and Balloch. Follow A82 bike path along Loch Lomond and on to Inveraran.
Some good climbs in the first 25 miles then flat along Loch Lomond. With on little bump around the 70 mile mark
The Drovers Arms Inveraran is a good pub but no overnighting in the car park allowed . Ardlui also has a hotel
Lots of laybys along the road around here though so probably just doss…….
